Independence Day is an auspicious occasion for each and every Indian. More than that it is like a festival for everyone. It is celebrated annually on 15 August as a national holiday for our Indians. 15 August 1947, the day when the provisions of the 1947 Indian independence Act, which is transferred by legistice sovereignty to the Indian Constitution assembly, came into effect. The nation adopted the constitution of India on 26 January 1950 which is celebrated as Indian Republic Day on Independence Day and Republic day patriotic songs in regional language are broadcast on Television and radio channels too.   5. On July 4th, the continental congress formally adopted the declaration of Independence which was written largely by Jefferson.
  6. We get freedom from the cruelty of the British government which is worth celebrating.
  7. The Prime Minister hoist flag which is in Tricolour and sing the national Anthem is mandatory and as a routine for the celebration.
  8. In the United States, the day is observed as ‘India Day’ by the Indians residing there.
  9. It signifies the nation’s struggles for freedom.
  10. It is one of the greatest festivals of democracy.
